Learn Website Design with WordPress

Not long ago, it was believed that the internet was going to be the answer for small businesses. By creating a website on the internet, small businesses were going to be able to compete with larger companies in marketing. The internet was going to make the businesses more accessible to customers. Somehow, that has yet to happen.

The potential is still there, but small businesses are still struggling to tap into it.

There are several reasons for this.

Competitive Market

The internet has become highly competitive. Over the last few years hundreds of small companies have popped up and flooded the market. With so many companies offering the same services, to compete, companies must really make an impression on the customers. They must find a way to set themselves apart. Also, as the internet evolved and became more user friendly, web design quickly became more complicated and small businesses had a hard time keeping up. And many companies were under the impression that all that was required was a snappy domain name, cheap web hosting, and a website that was aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, there is much more to it than that.

Target Market or Niche

Without taking certain factors into consideration, even the hottest website is doomed. For instance, it is important to take into account the type of people that the website is designed for. This is called your “Target Market” or “Niche”. A website that is intended for children needs to be designed around that concept. The text should be easy to read. There should be bright colors, and pictures that children enjoy. Children need things to keep their interest in the site, so some activities and games might be a good idea. A site that appears written for adults, that has no pictures or games on it, may attract a few children, but the few that happened across it would not stay very long.

Website Easy to Navigate

The website must also be functional and ease to navigate. If the customer can’t use the website, they will go to another one. Again, who the target audience is, is an important factor. Is the website for children? Then use symbols and easy words on the buttons. Is the website for adults who might be new to the internet? Then post directions, and make the help section noticeable and user friendly. It isn’t enough for the website to have what the user wants. The user must be able to get access to what they want as well. Small companies must remember that they are experts in their product lines and the information they are posting, but their target audience may not be.

Design with the Ability to Expand

Finally, websites must be designed with the ability to grow and expand. The internet is constantly evolving as are the individuals using it. Your website must continue to grow and change as well or you will fall behind. Consumers’ standards for the websites they frequent get higher and higher with each well designed website they visit. If a small business goes with a bargain web host that has very few options, or if the website is designed in a way that cannot evolve easily, customers will lose interest and not return.

The design of a website can make or break its ability to draw in users. Without proper planning, chances for a good design that fits the customer needs is very poor. And if the customer needs aren’t met, the website will fail.

If you can fulfill these website design requirements listed above, I’m sure you will grow and expand your business online.

Martiza Parra and Diana Walker first “met” on a teleconference call about Setting Goals for 2010 — on New Years Eve January 1 2010!

This was when I heard Maritza’s story of how she appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show – and how she has created her lifestyle, and motivates others to do the same.

Maritza teaches us the full spectrum of Social Media Marketing and how to get ourselves known on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other social media sites, and tie those back into our own blog.

I have been a student of Maritza Parra for almost a year now, and have learned so much.  She is the first speaker of the day today, September 25th – and I was able to get a photo with Maritza yesterday (above).

Top 10 Tips for Quality On Line Customer Service

The first thing to remember is that you have to know how to properly network. It is completely different being a business owner on line and trying to establish trust and ultimately a business partnership.

1. Communication

You must have and maintain communication with any relationship and an online business is no excuse. There are proper ways to go about communicating and spam doesn’t count. You need to make sure that you maintain an address book in your email so that you can send emails on a regular basis.

2. Profile Up-Keep

This is considered ‘your store’. There are many online stores now. Statistics say that 1 in 2 households will have home based businesses by the year 2012. It is wise to get as many social networking profiles active as possible. Then you must keep them maintained, up to date and as interesting as possible.

3. Networking

You must be patient and willing to go through profiles and mingle with others. There is a right way and a wrong way to do this though. You don’t want to go around and spam other profiles. The best thing is to become acquainted with them through email. Then you can go around and share your opportunity when you feel confident enough that you are a little acquainted.

4. Incentives

As with any business (even those online) you want to have some sort of incentive whether it is a discount or a percentage off. People love to save money.

5. Putting Their Needs First

The old saying goes ‘the customer is always right’. Well that is true! Make sure that you are providing them with the best customer service. You may get a telephone number and if you do, use it! If there is something that they like that is within your store make sure that you always have that item available even if just for them.

6. Maintaining Contact

Continue to visit their profile even if they haven’t ordered anything from you in awhile. If they see that you care about ‘them’, then they are more apt to order from you again.

7. Be Attentive

Just like in a regular business you always need to stay on your toes. Pay attention to what people are buying so that you can offer it at cheaper prices and then advertise it. Offer incentive with it as well.

8. Quality

You must provide a customer with quality products. Sure it is only worth a dollar. However, with a little effort people can take something that maybe cheap and make it look like a million dollars.

9. Satisfaction Guarantee

Is the customer happy with the product? If not offer a replacement or money back guarantees on the products. This will ensure quality and keep them coming back.

10. Follow up

It is very important that you follow up on not just customers but friends that you have made. You never know when they too may want to buy something from you.

These things are essential for online success. You must keep up with it or you are wasting time. Set goals and follow through. Always maintain communication in some way or another.

Learn to Blog – 5 Easy Blogging Tips

Diana Walker, Internet Marketing Professional, provides Internet Marketing and Blogging Education to help you earn money online with blogging.

Blogging is a great marketing tool for companies. Blogging allows a company to establish their expertise in an area and creates a rapport with readers. This makes readers more comfortable with buying from a company or using their services.

Very helpful resources are available from VA Classroom:
Blog Marketing Tips and Tactics

Blogging can be very time-consuming, and is a definite investment of time. Luckily there are many ways that you can limit your effort and make the time you spend blogging more efficient and productive. With the proper products and techniques you can blog without being tied to your computer.

1.  FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) -  One of the most time consuming parts of business blogging is when you have to answer the same questions over and over again.  Once you start recognizing the questions, start tagging the questions as you answer them.  Then use those tags to create a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page on your blog.  This document will list all of the questions and their answers.

2.   Blogging doesn’t have to be a one-man show – Blogs are conversations by multiple users, so you do not have to be the only user with the answers.  Enlist the help of co-workers or friends to do a guest post, to step in and answer questions from time to time.  Just make sure that their screen name/screen identity lists their affiliation with the company.

3.  Blogging software – There is a multitude of blogging software that makes blogging fast and easy.  There is software that will enable you to create, edit and manage your blogs.  Other software will “ping” other websites that contain blogs with similar information.  When this happens, your post gets included with that sites index and more people see your post.

4.   Blog from your cell – Cell phones that have internet capability are a huge asset when you are trying to get away from the computer.  There are several tools and programs that will allow you to blog from whereever you are on your cell.  This way you can create and post a blog between meetings, on your commute to and from work, or even at your kids little practice.  The most popular of these services is Twitter, but many other services are available.

5.  Keep the posts simple – Many times you may want to make an elaborate or beautifully worded post.  For your blog to be successful, you need to post often, and there just isn’t always time for those elaborate posts. In those times, post a picture of one of your products, preferably of the product being used.  You want an image that tells a story. Another possibility is posting a question that will get your blog subscribers talking. This allows you to keep the blog active when there are no real new topics to discuss, and only takes minutes of your time.

Blogging can take time.  With a few simple downloads and modifications to your techniques, your company can benefit from blogging without you having to spend all your time at your computer.  By cutting down on the time and effort you are putting in on each post and blog response, and allowing you to fit much of that time in when you have the opportunity (through your mobile device) you will be amazed at how simple blogging can become.

Facebook Fanpages Training Course  I know that one of the biggest barriers to getting myself known on the internet was finding the right person or people to assist me on my journey. I needed help with Internet Marketing desperately. And now we don’t just have the need to create a WordPress Blog, we need to find a way to get people to our blog, and Facebook pages are one of the most popular ways to become well-known in your niche, and to share with others, and become the “go-to” person that others are looking for.

I was so tired of paying high hourly fees to have changes made to my web site and blog.

My first 2 years – 2003 and 2004 were very, very rocky – and I wanted to give up over and over again.  However, I hung in there, and then over the 5 years since I have utilized the services of many webmasters and many VAs (Virtual Assistants).

Internet Marketing NAMS Friends

I am getting so excited as I prepare for my upcoming trip to Atlanta, Georgia, United States, for the Niche Affiliate Marketing Seminar - abbreviated as NAMS – this is the NAMS3 – my first one.

There will be people there from every walk of life, and even students flying in from England and Australia!   So for me to travel from Vancouver, BC, Canada, is easy!

What a privilege to connect and network with people that I have “known” online for so long.  Some people have been my friends through forums, some have been my mentors, some have taught me about TeleClasses, about Blogging, about Affiliate Marketing.

I’ve been online since 2003 – but my first 2 years were a haze, and I felt like I was in a jungle.  I lost a lot of money – about $8,000 – during those first 2 years — but during the past 5 years, I have found the right people, who really love to help people, and I have benefited so much, and contributed back to them.

I just bought a new Flip Video Camera and a new Nikon Digital Camera, so my journey has already begun.  Of course I’ll take my laptop.

There’ll be 150 students, and 20 Instructors.

Amazing Fact – 60 of us belong to the Elite Mentoring Group – with Lynn Terry – I can’t wait to meet Lynn, and of course the 60 other people that I know from the Forums and Webinars that Lynn leads.

Can’t wait to be with a group of Internet Marketers, make new friends, and connect with friends I have already met online, and now I will meet in person!
